Keto Broccoli Salad – who says you can’t have your favorite potluck side dish on the Keto diet? This low-carb Broccoli Salad has broccoli florets, bacon, cheese, onion, and sunflower/pumpkin seeds in a mayonnaise tangy dressing. This is the perfect Keto side dish.
KETO BROCCOLI SALAD
Another Keto recipe? I’m living in Keto world at my house. I think my husband has taken on the challenge to take on any recipe and convert it to Keto.
Even for my son’s birthday he was convinced we could make a Keto chocolate cake and he wouldn’t notice. He was right! He didn’t notice.
So when it came to low-carb broccoli salad, there really weren’t that many tweaks we had to make to make it fit the low carb diet.
The original recipe for broccoli Salad traditionally has a sweet mayonnaise dressing. Mayonnaise is fabulous for Keto, sugar not so much. We replaced the sugar with Erythritol which is the generic term for low-carb sweeteners such as Monk Fruit or Swerve.
Pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds are also great for Keto.
INGREDIENTS
- BROCCOLI – the key ingredient to a traditional broccoli salad.
- CHEDDAR CHEESE– another great option would be Provolone.
- RED ONION – give the salad bite. You could use green onions for a more mild onion flavor.
- PUMPKIN SEEDS/SUNFLOWER SEEDS– a great source of healthy fats.
- CRISPY BACON – you can use low fat turkey bacon as well. The salty bacon pairs with the sweet salad.
- MAYONNAISE – creamy mayonnaise is the base for the creamy dressing.
- RED WINE VINEGAR/APPLE CIDER VINEGAR – you could even use white wine vinegar but it’s not ideal.
- ERYTHRITOL – any low-carb sweetener will work here that doesn’t raise your blood sugar and makes this a keto-friendly sweet dressing.
IS BROCCOLI LOW-CARB?
Broccoli is the perfect side dish and Keto-friendly vegetable because it’s high in fiber making it’s net carbs low. Broccoli has about 2 net carbs per 1 cup of raw broccoli.
HOW MANY CARBS IN THIS KETO BROCCOLI SALAD?
Only 2 net carbs in each 1/2 cup serving of broccoli salad which keeps your carb count low.

Prep Time: 10 minutes mins
Total Time: 10 minutes mins
Servings: 10 servings
Ingredients
- 8 cups fresh broccoli cut into small pieces
- 1/4 cup red onion, diced finely
- 1/2 cup sunflower or pumpkin seeds
- 4 ounces cheddar cheese, cubed
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 5 tablespoons low-carb sweetener (Erythritol), (more or less to taste)
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 lb bacon, cooked and crumbled
Instructions
Combine broccoli, red onion, sunflower or pumpkin seeds, and cheese in a large bowl.
In a separate bowl, mix the mayonnaise, sweetener and vinegar together until smooth. Stir into the salad.
Let salad chill for about 3 hours. It may not seem like enough dressing but after it chills the dressing marinates and is plenty. This also allows the flavors to meld. Stir in the bacon right before serving.
Season with salt and pepper and serve.
Notes
I like to add the bacon right before serving to keep it crispy.

I love this recipe, but I have a non-mayo person. What can I sub for the mayo ingredient that won’t take away too much from this recipe? Thanks!

Greek yogurt? But it’s not the same in my opinion

I really wish serving size was available by weight as well. Weighing food is much easier and mote accurate than volume.

Because depending on how you measure things at home I would suggest weighing the whole salad and dividing by number of servings.

What mayonnaise do you recommend for this recipe?

Christy Denney — Reply
For Keto, an avocado mayo is good or Sir Kensington’s mayo

Oops I forgot to add the 5*!
I made it (again) to take on a trip this time, and doubled the recipe. It lasts for several days just fine. I shredded the cheese when i doubled the recipe – I think it works better shredded from a block of sharp cheddar. Great recipe!-

I made this broccoli salad and substituted yogurt (Greek yogurt) for the sour cream as I didn’t have any on hand. I also swapped out the walnuts for pecans, because that’s all I had. I used sharp white cheddar cheese for the cheddar cheese. I used green onions for the red onion, since I didn’t have any on hand. I sprinkled a little “everything bagel seasoning” in the dressing before I put it on the broccoli salad. Just delicious! Thank you! 🙂

Great recipe! If you’re using stevia DO NOT use 5 tbsp 2.5 will do. Learned that the hard way lol

Great Recipe. I added shredded cabbage and serves it like a slaw. I also did not have any seeds but added toasted pecans instead. It did the trick!

I love this salad and so do my kids. Never has broccoli been so good. The sweet creamy dressing, cheese, bacon and seeds. My wife makes it at least 3 times a week since found. I want to eat it every day!

This was very go! As written, after sitting for hours it was still a little dry. I added and additional 1/4 cup of mayo with 1 Tablespoon or vinegar (btw, I used white wine vinegar). Served it for a dinner party and everyone loved it! Thanks for the recipe.
