What are the best ones?
the others I've played are either too complicated or burden you with weight, inventory management , other nonsense like too many variables on attacking (you don't know why you die or miss or way too much RNG
Wasteland 3 keeps the strategical yet makes things streamlined. I'm just not as much of a fan of it as I could be due to its setting post apocalyptic is kinda dull... is there any like this that are easy to pick up and play But with monsters and wizards ? Divinity has weird environmental trap puzzles in its combat. Like every battle is a puzzle and annoying to figure out what to trigger. I wasn't a fan of its Monty Python comedy either.
Baldurs Gate is just too complicated with its combat, pillars has too much happening in combat I don't have a clue what I'm looking at or doing it's a chore.
I want one like Wasteland 3 but set with monsters? I don't wanna fight people Or mutants all the time it's boring.

Shadowrun Returns on Steam
The unique cyberpunk-meets-fantasy world of Shadowrun has gained a huge cult following since its creation nearly 25 years ago. Now, creator Jordan Weisman returns to the world of Shadowrun, modernizing this classic game setting as a single player, turn-based tactical RPG.

Shadowrun Returns/Dragonfall/Hong Kong kind of fill that monsters and magic desire, but in a cyberpunk setting, and have a rather straightforward and easy to get into turn based combat.
Both Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire and Pathfinder: Kingmaker have Turn Based modes which might help you get over the chaos of RTwP, but their underlying mechanics and rules are still all there and are quite complicated, especially Pathfinder.
That's kind of it until BGIII comes out.

Do you need to play the other Wasteland games or can you jump in with 3?

Start with 3, you'll be fine and it's much better than Wasteland 2.
The first game is so different it's not even comparable, but you can always try it after if you're curious. It's very old and very cumbersome though, not an easy game to hop into.

Torment Tides of Numenera? I don't know how it compares to Wasteland, it might be too close to Baldurs Gate for you, but it is a fantasy game by the same studio that made Wasteland, so it seems like a good throw.

Solasta is hitting EA on Steam Fall 2020 - https://store.steampowered.com/app/1096530/Solasta_Crown_of_the_Magister/
The devs licensed 5.1 from WOTC, there's also a demo available (can't use custom characters yet) but I think this might be what you're after

Pathfinder should be right up your alley. Above mentioned Solasta and BG3 as other folks said. Divinity 2 has a much more serious storyline (still with some humor) and I feel that some of the environmental craziness got notched down. PoE2 I liked a ton better vs PoE1, especially in combat flow.
I'd try the ones above. You can also give Fell Seal a shot. It's really good and more like SRPGs on consoles. Valkyria Chronicles is cheap and got both fantasy and modern weapons plus hybrid real time and turned based combat.

Are you talking about the first Divinity OS, or the second? Because the second greatly tuned down the seriously irreverent humor a lot, and while there are environmental puzzles, it wasn't as egregious as in the original. The second game is quite a lot better, and there's no "every fight is like a puzzle" scenario at all. The game simply has combos and is turn based.
Also, don't go with Pathfinder unless you set the Kingdom management to auto. Its implementation is just dreadful, and if you play the game in its default, non turn-based mode, you're essentially playing a Neverwinter Nights game, which is just a slightly easier Baldur's Gate. Haven't played it again yet with its official (non mod) turn-based mode though.
As mentioned, Fell Seal is also pretty good, but it's closer to something like Final Fantasy tactics.

Baldur's Gate 3 would be up your alley. If you've only tried Divinity OS 1, try Divinity Original Sin 2 and see how you like it. The environmental stuff isn't really a puzzle. It's there if you want to use it, but those games give you a lot of freedom to play however you like.

Pathfinder Kingmaker Definitive Edition is what youre looking for OP
Go get it on Steam now. They just added an official turn based mod to the game as well so now you can do Real time w/pause or turn based.
Have fun.

Thirding Solasta as a possible option, and it has a free demo to see if you like the style. Combat and exploration are D&D 5e-based, but it does an awesome job streamlining the ruleset and making it easy-to-follow. A good example is encumbrance: as you add things to a character's inventory, it shows a bar graph illustrating what their load limit, how much that item will add, etc.

Yeah, it works really well. Pathfinder ruleset lends itself to turn based and you can switch pretty much on the fly as well.

A little bit of a late bump, but this thread is very much in line with my current issue. I have rpg paralysis! Deadfire, Kingmaker or Wasteland 3.
Loved POE1 and finished it, never got far in 2. More familiar / easier rule set. I like the lore. I'm very interested in turn based mode but I know it's slow as Christmas and you can't freely swap like in Kingmaker. Don't know if the game would hold up the whole way through like that.
Kingmaker- I'm very very interested now that there's an official turn based mode, but my brain kinda deflates at the thought of what seems to be fantasy that is maybe a little too standard and learning a dense new set of rules.
Then Wasteland just looks cool, pretty clueless honestly. I know it was pretty easy to screw yourself to death in 2 with bad builds / decisions, so.....
Hmmm. Once I get past being paralyzed by game choice I can go on to being paralyzed by class choice. Yay!

Honestly try divinity 2 again if you haven't tried it after wasteland 3. That game takes a couple tries.

Minor call backs and some characters that were in the past game, but you don't need to know anything. Wasteland 3 is great.
